© José de HolandaGet ready for a musical adventure with Bixiga 70, the sensational Brazilian band that sets every stage on fire! Founded in 2010, the name Bixiga 70 refers to the address of the Estúdio Traquitana where the band was formed – at Rua Treze de Maio No. 70 in the Bixiga district of São Paulo. Since then, the collective has built an international reputation by tapping into influences rarely heard in Latin American bands: complex Malinke grooves from West Africa merge with arabesque organ motifs, brass-driven spiritual jazz meets cumbia rock and Gnawa echoes, while polyrhythmic percussion meets melodically flowing and powerful brass sections. A special feature of the band is its collective compositional principle, in which each member contributes equally to the development of the sound, which is usually captured live in the studio in order to transport the energy and interplay of the recordings as authentically as possible. This is the foundation for their incredible live shows, where they combine the rhythms of samba, the free spirit of jazz, the infectious groove of funk and all their other influences to create a rousing big band sound. In doing so, they not only bring Brazil's iconic heritage to life, but also build transcontinental sound bridges. Ecstasy guaranteed.
