Carolina BubbicoFascinating voices, harmonic soundscapes, and structures that remind of brass sections and string ensembles.

The Italian singer, arranger and multi-instrumentalist creates a fine and at the same time powerful sound full of lightness and expression from polyphony, rhythm and Mediterranean warmth. The title Vocàlia is derived from Latin and refers to the vowels – the basic elements of speech and song. The voice becomes the absolute leading actress here: female, collective and original. After fifteen years of intensive research in the field of vocal polyphony, through loop-based performances and choral ensembles, Bubbico takes on the challenge of composing and arranging music exclusively for voices, creating a cohesive, contemporary sound. Vocàlia is a love letter to life and a message of hope for generations to come. The project is conceived as a multilingual vocal orchestra and was created during a profoundly changing phase in the artist's life: motherhood, which she experienced as a time of rebirth, change and new creative clarity. Voices produce alternating chants, harmonic soundscapes and rhythmic structures that are at times reminiscent of wind sections, string ensembles or percussive levels. The creative process flows like a musical stream of consciousness and is symbolically represented by a crocheted doily, whose individual threads – like the individual voices – are woven together to form a complex and at the same time balanced structure. A fascinating sound experience!
