Few jazz pianists combine passion, creativity and humour as virtuosically as the Swede Daniel Karlsson. He is considered one of the most exciting European jazz musicians and is reminiscent of the legendary trio e.s.t. in many ways, not least through his album "Fusion for Fish", for which his band was awarded "Swedish Radio Jazz Group of the Year 2014" and won the "Golden Disc 2015" of the Swedish jazz magazine OJ as well as the Swedish Jazz Grammy 2015. In 2023, the trio released their eighth album, "Sorry Boss". The music is melodic and rhythm-driven and full of exuberant joy of playing. With influences from jazz, soul and pop of the 60s, mixed with a Nordic tonality and subtle electronics, the trio creates a sound that is both refined and exploratory. One moment it sounds like classical music, the other like jazz, then again like electronic music – and suddenly like everything at the same time. They come to Nica with brand new song material.
