This evening promises to be something very special, because in this exciting duo the celebrated pianist and composer Gwilym Simcock meets a shooting star of the London jazz scene: the only 21-year-old saxophonist and composer Emma Rawicz. She has been stirring up the London jazz scene for some time now and is currently considered one of the island's greatest jazz talents. Jamie Cullum calls her "an impressive talent".

Her compatriot Gwilym Simcock, twice his age, is already a star of the international jazz scene. The multi-award-winning Simcock moves effortlessly between jazz and classical music and creates a completely unique sound. He works with orchestras, choirs, big bands, small ensembles and musicians from almost all genres. Chick Corea described Simcock as a "genius".

Both are classically trained, including at the Royal Academy of Music in London, and proved to be a perfect combination. Their collaboration achieves special depth, freedom and a unique, exciting musical power. Joint compositions and arrangements have been created, which they recorded for a first joint album and which is expected to be released on the renowned label ACT in November. Emma and Gwilym will present their new music, but also new arrangements of the Great American Songbook or Stevie Wonder.

Interesting to know: Emma Rawicz has a gift that connects her with Franz Liszt, Jean Sibelius, or Duke Ellington, she sees the notes she plays in colors. Scientifically, this is known as synesthesia. Their first own album "Chroma"/ACT was significantly influenced by this. The saxophonist, who was born in North Devon and whose Polish surname comes from her grandfather, who came to Britain from Warsaw during the Second World War, tours in a wide variety of formations, including with her own quintet or orchestra.
