Fortunately, women on the double bass are becoming more and more the norm in jazz. Endea Owens from Detroit is currently one of the hotly traded bassists and composers, especially in the USA. The 37-year-old can already draw on a wealth of experience. While studying at New York's Juilliard School, one of her mentors was bass legend Ron Carter. After graduating, she carefully played her way into the limelight, and in the meantime she has already shared the stage with Diana Ross, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Solange and Wynton Marsalis, among others. She is also a member of the band of the late-night show "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert". And although she is only at the beginning of her foreseeably great career, she already has an Emmy, a Grammy and a George Foster Peabody Award on her mantelpiece. At the Nica Jazz Club she will present her debut album "Feel Good Music".
