Eric BibbThe masters of the Folk-Blues.

He has a voice worth dying for, judges the New York Times. Eric Bibb is simply one of the most extraordinary blues musicians in the world. With a career spanning five decades, over forty albums, three Grammy nominations (the last for his 2023 album Ridin'), and countless awards, Bibb has secured his legacy as a legendary figure in the blues and roots genre. Eric's father, Leon, was a key figure in the civil rights movement and marched alongside Dr. Martin Luther King. So the young Eric immersed himself early on in the folk scene around Bob Dylan, Joan Baez and Pete Seeger, as well as Odetta and Taj Mahal and synthesized these elements into a unique style. He defies categorization and glides seamlessly back and forth between the musical realms. Based on the folk and blues tradition with contemporary sensibilities, Bibb's music reflects his thoughts on current world events and his own lived experiences, while remaining entertaining, uplifting, inspiring and relevant. All of this is expressed in the 2023 album "Ridin'", which was inspired by Eastman Johnson's painting "A Ride for Liberty", which depicts a black family fleeing slavery during the Civil War. When Bibb thinks about his musical journey, gratitude permeates him. The evolution is evident in his voice and guitar playing, with his words anchoring truth and promoting a vision of unity in a world full of divisive rhetoric. Undoubtedly, an Eric Bibb concert is always a highly spiritual affair. He is more than a blues troubadour, he is a storyteller and philosopher. His legacy lies not only in the notes he plays or on the stages he stands on, but also in the questions he asks - and in the hope he inspires. And we need them more than ever right now.
