The Fuchsthone Orchestra is anything but a conventional big band – with a line-up expanded to include violin, vocals and electronica, the 22, often award-winning musicians represent the state of the art of contemporary jazz ensembles. In the works of bandleaders Christina Fuchs and Caroline Thon, brutal tutti passages and brass servoicings à la Maria Schneider follow moments of silence, interrupted by collective improvisations of smaller subunits of the band. An impressive musical experience that fully exploits the diverse timbres and possible combinations of the instruments involved. In 2026, their new album "Peaks & Plots" was released, recorded together with guest soloist Evi Filippou. The album received enthusiastic reviews throughout. Critics praise the complex but always accessible sound of the large jazz ensemble, which also keeps this promise at their live concerts. Already nominated twice for the German Jazz Prize, in 2021 and 2025, they will be on tour in 2027 with their guest Vincent van Schlippenbach alias DJ Illvibe at the turntables and their new program.
