George Cables feat. Piero Odorici QuartetThe American piano legend celebrates his 80th birthday and meets the Italian tenor saxophone master Piero Odorici.

Legendary pianist George Cables has been one of the most important voices in international jazz for decades and one of the great heroes of the golden age of hard bop. He worked intensively with artists such as Art Blakey, Freddie Hubbard, Max Roach, Art Pepper, Joe Henderson, Woody Shaw and Archie Shepp; he was also an indispensable member of the supergroup "The Cookers". For his 80th birthday and to the delight of his countless fans, Cables returns to the international stages. The 80-year-old Cables says of himself that he was inspired by Thelonious Monk, but also by the harmonic concepts of Herbie Hancock, Wynton Kelly or Oscar Peterson. From these influences, he extracted his very own style, which he cultivated over the years.
Cables meets the Italian tenor and soprano saxophonist Piero Odorici. Odarici, who comes from Bologna, is a student of Sal Nistico and Steve Grossman. He is now one of the most important saxophone voices on the European jazz scene. His collaborations with jazz legends such as Cedar Walton, Jimmy Cobb and Dee Dee Bridgewater underline his successful career. In the pop music scene, he has worked with Gianni Morandi, Luciano Pavarotti, Gloria Gaynor, George Michael, Grace Jones and Tiziano Ferro, among others.
