© Barto SzkordekHania Derej is one of the most sensational young talents on the contemporary jazz scene. With remarkable musical maturity and sparkling energy, this young, only 21-year-old Polish pianist combines classical influences with modern jazz in her compositions to create something very unique. With her, you are simply quickly amazed: Are you first impressed by the dizzying number of awards or by the playful naturalness with which she interweaves a wide variety of musical styles? She moves very light-footedly between illustrative music, jazz, chamber music, film and electronics. This is also reflected in the sound of her trio: electronically tinged jazz with neoclassical touches, delicate melodies next to high intensity, strong emotions next to ostinato figures and repetitive structures. Music that drives, touches and surprises at the same time. This extraordinarily young artist has taken the Polish music scene by storm and has long since thrilled audiences far beyond the jazz milieu. As a pianist, composer, conductor and producer of electronic music, she shows a tireless curiosity for a wide variety of musical aesthetics. She studied symphonic conducting at the Academy of Music in Krakow and jazz composition and arrangement at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. In 2025, she was named "New Hope of Polish Music" in the Sanki survey of Gazeta Wyborcza. We don't want to miss out on experiencing this exceptional talent with us in good time before she can foreseeably and quickly carry her career to the world's big stages.
Hania Derej will play the first set solo and the second set with her trio.
