Harbour Front Literaturfestival @ Nicanext.gen: connections with Silvi Carlsson, Sophia Como und Leh-Wei Liao

What connects us – with the people who have shaped us, with the expectations placed on us, and with the person we want to be?

In next.gen: connections, three authors meet whose books tell of origin, closeness and self-designs from very different perspectives. They explore family ties, the dynamics of relationships, and the societal expectations that accompany our lives. It is about what arises between people: about care and freedom, belonging and detachment, about the stories we take over from others and those we write for ourselves.
A literary evening about all the connections that shape, challenge and change us.

Leh-Wie Liao (Glaszeit) tells the story of a young doctor who meets her mother again in an unexpected way after eighteen years. A novel about origin, family, but also desire and the possibility of allowing closeness anew.

Sophia Como (Halbwach) takes us on the adventure of a successful author who seeks closeness without wanting to commit herself. But when her carefully planned life model begins to falter, her relentlessly honest journey to herself and the question of how we want to live relationships begins.

Silvi Carlsson (Good Girl Exit) tells a radical, personal and political story of people pleasing, emotional availability and female socialization. It shows how deeply the Good Girl imprint affects relationships, careers and bodies – and what happens when we no longer put men at the center of our thinking.
