Just recently, Hyphen Dash won the first Ukrainian Jazz Award as the "Best Ukrainian Jazz Group 2025." The Ukrainian Institute is the state institution of Ukraine for cultural diplomacy. It is committed to promoting understanding and perception of the culture of this Eastern European country and expanding cultural relations with other countries – especially during times of war. In November of last year, it was announced that, in cooperation with the Europe Jazz Network (EJN), the Ukrainian Jazz Award would be awarded for the first time. The best Ukrainian jazz band is Hyphen Dash: "The trio impresses with an experimental musical language and a strong artistic identity that combines complex structures with playfulness and humor," states the reasoning, Hyphen Dash's music is characterized by originality and a bold approach to improvisation. We are thrilled with this band and are excited to present them here with us at Nica and for their debut in Hamburg.
