Earthy, distinctive, soul-soaked: this is the voice of Ida Sand, probably the "blackest" voice in Scandinavia. At an early age, she came into contact with local church music and the classical music of her parents, her mother a church musician and her father an opera singer, and fell for the irresistible voices of blues and soul greats. In their four albums so far, jazz, pop and folk influences have also flowed in equal measure. Her current album "Do You Hear Me?" is undoubtedly Ida Sand's most personal album to date. If only because all ten pieces were penned by her and were created under the special circumstances when a pandemic shut down the live music market. Here she lives out her penchant for melodies aimed directly at the heart unbridled - well-proportioned, confidently and tastefully padded by a select squad of first-class musicians. A sign of life too, a glimmer of hope: Music will always survive, at a high level – this is the message that Ida Sand's songs carry.
