Jin Jim are one of the "absolute high-flyer bands in the German jazz scene" (NDR). Rightly so, if you look at their still short band history. In 2013, Peruvian flutist Daniel Manrique Smith, bassist Ben Tai Trawinski, guitarist Johann May and drummer Nico Stallmann founded Jin Jim. In the same year, they were voted into the finals of the JazzTube Festival Bonn as voting winners, and the following year the quartet even won the "Future Sounds" competition of the Leverkusen Jazz Days - against almost 200 competitors. In 2015 they released their first album "Die Ankunft". In 2018, the accolade came when her second album "Weiße Schatten", followed by great reviews, was released by the renowned Munich label ACT. Many live shows around the world and a global pandemic later, their album "New Choices" was released in 2023, with which Jin Jim have once again surpassed themselves. For some, Jin Jim's sound reminded them of Jethro Tull, others hear hip hop and Latin elements. One thing is certain: On their latest album, the band is catchier, more powerful and more compact than ever. This band is lyrical and playful, wild and irrepressible.
