Like no other, Joscho Stephan shapes modern Gypsy Swing with his playing: With his authentic tone, with harmonic sophistication and rhythmic flair, but above all with breathtaking solo technique, he has earned an outstanding reputation in the international guitar scene. Like no other, he knows how to stand out from the multitude of current Gypsy Swing adaptations by combining Gypsy Swing with Latin, classical and rock in addition to numerous interpretations of the well-known classics of the genre. This is where Stephan's strength as a creative visionary comes into play. And that inspires the young and old concert audiences alike. Joscho's YouTube version of "Hey Joe" has now cracked the 3 million mark. His debut album "Swinging Strings" was voted CD of the month in 1999 by the American trade magazine "Guitar Player". The renowned "Acoustic Guitar Magazine" celebrated Joscho Stephan as a guarantor for the future of the gypsy jazz guitar as early as 2004. For the CD "Guitar Heroes" in 2015, he was able to win guitar greats such as Bireli Lagrène, Stochelo Rosenberg and Tommy Emmanuel as guests. In the meantime, Joscho himself is a sought-after guest and has appeared on the current albums of Peter Kraus and Daniel Hope, among others. He also thrilled audiences in the USA with concerts in Nashville, Chicago, San Francisco, Detroit or at the legendary jazz club Birdland and Lincoln Center in New York. On the Australian continent, Joscho Stephan toured with Tommy Emmanuel. His current trio includes Sven Jungbeck, rhythm guitar, and Volker Kamp, double bass. The trio has been on the road in this line-up since 2018 and has since played numerous tours and concerts in Italy, Portugal, Spain, Hungary, Croatia, Switzerland and Estonia, among others.
