She is considered one of the most exciting voices on the contemporary jazz and soul scene: The American singer and pianist Kandace Springs, born in 1989 in Nashville, Tennessee, fascinates with her remarkable alto voice from the very first note. For the 30th anniversary of "Purple Rain" in 2014, he invited her to Paisley Park and became her mentor for a while. It was a key moment in the career of the musician, who signed with Blue Note Records shortly afterwards and released her debut album "Soul Eyes" in 2016. This was followed by tours through Europe and the USA, the albums "Indigo" and "The Women Who Raised Me". Then came the pandemic and Kandace Springs reflected on her second great passion: collecting and repairing classic cars saved her through difficult times when her father passed away. Springs grew up in a musical environment. Her father, Kenneth "Scat" Springs, was a sought-after studio singer who showed her the music of great artists such as Nina Simone, Norah Jones and Roberta Flack and enabled her to play the piano. "He opened the door to a whole musical world for me – I went in and never left," says Springs, whose 2024 album "Run Your Race" is a tribute to her father, making it "definitely the most personal album I've ever made – and probably will ever have made."
