Kessoncoda stand firmly between acoustic tradition and electronica, and are founded on a unique blend of melodic, ostinato piano and unwavering drums. The duo from West London are drummer Tom Sunney and keyboardist Filip Sowa. For their music, the two draw influences from rock, electronica, ambient, breakbeat and film soundtracks and orient themselves towards artists such as Squarepusher, Radiohead and Clark. Similar to former and current label mates of Gondwana Records such as GoGo Penguin and Portico Quartet, Kessoncoda's music also has something cinematic about it.
It's as if a narrative plot unfolds through different themes and moods, with varying intensity, while stunning melodies emerge that eventually culminate in a wonderful climax. Drummer Tom with his energetic way of playing, and the rather thoughtful keyboarder Filip, who brings in an incredible melodiousness, complement each other perfectly in their differences.
Both musicians are ready to go public, and it suggests that their debut album "Outerstate", released in the summer, is just the beginning of something big. Kessoncoda are ready for their global breakthrough and their debut in Hamburg.
