In 2017, the just 20-year-old musician Kinga Glyk from Poland caused a sensation with unimaginable click numbers of her "Tears in Heaven" video. After that, she toured almost continuously, playing in small clubs and large festivals. There was practically no program booklet that did not adorn her with her portrait as a cover, TV stations reported on her, magazines and trade journals scrambled for interviews and gave her an enormous degree of fame. She went from being the darling of social media to a true concert audience favorite. With her fresh, fresh manner and concentrated power, she has catapulted jazz into a new orbit and thus also brings young people closer to their favorite music.
However, the bassist's career began much earlier: at the age of 12, father Irek, himself a successful and well-known drummer and vibraphonist, discovered the talent of his youngest and made her a member of the family trio P.I.K. The father-daughter-son team was doing well in business and had numerous performances - a time in which Kinga was able to try out a lot musically. She made good use of this time and released her first album at the age of 18. "(...) I always knew I wanted to play bass. For me, it's the best instrument in the world." Says Kinga Glyk and lets her bass tell stories with unique artistry and nonchalance. Her latest album "Real Life" is her most striking so far. Never has her handwriting been heard so unmistakably as here. Each song has its own energy and dynamics, but it's not always the bass that is in the foreground. Inspired by jazz and funk, contemporary and unique in arrangement and aesthetics.
