These two bands come across like a bang - the Norrbotten Big Band, known for their genre-busting collaborations, and the US duo KNOWER. Sweden's probably most innovative large jazz ensemble makes a guest appearance at the Nica Jazz Club - together with the sensational US band KNOWER. One day after these two ensembles took over the jazzahead! in Bremen, they will come to us in Hamburg.

KNOWER, consisting of Louis Cole and Genevieve Artadi - are considered one of the most exciting bands of the moment. They made a name for themselves in the 2010s with releases on their own label and spectacular live performances. The Jazzwise described their sound as a "hyperactive blend of post-ironic jazz fusion". The duo has already shared the stage with greats such as Snarky Puppy or Brad Mehldau. Superstars such as Quincy Jones, Björk and John Mayer are among her fans. They probably also ensured that KNOWER was invited by the Red Hot Chili Peppers to support their stadium tour in 2017.

Founded in 1986, the Norrbotten Big Band (NBB) from Luleå in northern Sweden is currently led by saxophonist Joakim Milder. With up to 20 musicians, the ensemble continuously explores the boundaries of modern jazz – and regularly crosses them. Two Grammy nominations speak for themselves.

The artistic relationship between NBB and Knower has existed for almost a decade. This concert is a celebration of this deep-rooted, creative bond and showcases a genre-spanning fusion of electronic funk, avant-garde pop and contemporary big band jazz. Together, KNOWER and NBB will present new material as well as pieces from Artadi's album "Another Leaf".
