Lars Danielsson & LiberettoThe master of harmonious sound on bass and cello presents his brand-new album for the very first time with a world premiere.

For Lars Danielsson, the master of euphony on bass and cello, the power of music lies in the melody. It is the germ, the energy center from which everything unfolds. "Liberetto" stands for this attitude for the fourth time. And good things are worth waiting for. Lars Danielsson had just recorded a few tracks for a new Liberetto album at the end of 2019, when the pandemic struck. When a window of opportunity opened up between lockdowns across Europe in September 2020, Danielsson jumped at the opportunity and brought bandmates back to his studio near Gothenburg to finish what they had started. Anyone who appreciates the attractiveness and accessibility of Danielsson's Liberetto concept – even his neologism combines musical freedom with playful ease – will love the new album, the fifth Liberetto album. All expectations, starting with the "elegant lyricism" that can be found in abundance again and the "unerring groove", as the Canadian author John Kelman (All About Jazz) already identified it in 2011 with the first Liberetto album, are fulfilled. But the new album also shows Danielsson's whole range of timbres and expressive possibilities. And in addition to the usual ones, many new aspects are added here. In every respect, this album reminds us that creative processes need time to mature - and that this is all the more worthwhile in the end.
