Leléka"This woman is really a phenomenon." (JazzThing)

Leléka presents her new album "Kolysanky" – a journey into the dream world of Ukrainian lullabies. The album was released on January 22, 2025, the Day of Ukrainian Unity. This special work is entirely dedicated to the fascinating world of Ukrainian lullabies and connects to one of the oldest traditions of Ukrainian folk culture. In a time full of challenges and crises, the band wants to offer comfort with this album and build a bridge between the past and the present by reviving the rich and often forgotten musical storytelling tradition of Ukraine. These songs hold a special significance in Ukrainian culture. According to old Ukrainian legends, sleep is a mystical journey of the soul to other worlds. These deeply rooted customs and symbols give the Kolysanky a special spiritual dimension, which is brought to life on this album.

Leléka, a young multicultural Berlin quartet around the Ukrainian singer Viktoria, whose voice determines the character and atmosphere of this band's music. The band's sound world, which ranges from dynamically grooving passages to delicate folk ballad tones, finds the appropriate framework in a contemporary jazz language, which the quartet has developed into a varied concept. Leléka is the successful example of a young band that occupies a well-considered place within the borderline genre. They were awarded for this at the world music competition creole Berlin and the European Young Talent Jazz Prize Burghausen 2018.
