With her new album "Hand auf's Herz", the Hamburg jazz bassist, composer and bandleader Lisa Wulff presents a musical snapshot that is as personal as it is powerful and a surprisingly new program. In a changed line-up, now with guitar as an expressive new color, she forms an independent, intense sound - expressive and free, at the same time always melodically rooted and approachable. In addition to her well-rehearsed quartet, Claus Stötter is an outstanding trumpeter who brings a special connection to the concert venue: the Tübingen native is a member of the NDR Big Band, among other things, through his many years of work as a sought-after soloist and bandleader. His characteristic trumpet voice expands the sound of the quartet by a new, colorful and at the same time pointed dimension. The music of the new program "Hand auf's Herz", a German title for the first time, is multifaceted and rough like life itself. Between lyrical melancholy and eruptive freedom, pieces unfold that tell of hope, limits and the courage to overcome them. Lisa Wulff combines groove and intuition with emotional depth, a balance of vulnerability and strength, virtuosity and simplicity. Her compositions give her four musicians space for interaction and individual expressiveness. The result is music that lives in the moment and therefore touches directly.
