Lucas Imbiriba is a guitarist whose career has been shaped by an early and distinctly international education. Trained in Brazil, Spain, Germany, and Austria, he studied at institutions such as ESMUC Barcelona, the Nuremberg-Augsburg University of Music, and the Mozarteum Salzburg, working with leading figures of classical guitar pedagogy. As a young musician, Imbiriba won an impressive series of international competitions, including eight first prizes at major guitar competitions in Brazil and Spain. His concert activity has taken him to renowned venues and festivals across Europe, the Americas, Russia, Africa, and Asia. He has appeared as a soloist with orchestras such as the Brandenburg State Orchestra, the Jena Philharmonic, and the Krasnoyarsk Philharmonic, and in 2011 became the first classical guitarist ever invited to perform at the Winners & Masters Festival at Munich’s Gasteig. More recently, his widely viewed guitar arrangements on YouTube and his role as lead guitarist for Yusuf / Cat Stevens, including a performance on the Pyramid Stage at the Glastonbury Festival, have introduced him to a global audience. A solo concert by Lucas Imbiriba is not a routine recital — it is a rare and striking live experience.
