Founded in autumn 2021, the ensemble of Hamburg pianist Lukas Klapp has created a particularly versatile repertoire of its own pieces and released its debut album "Forward" in the summer of 2023. The unmistakable voice of British trumpeter Percy Pursglove meets powerful and clear lines by Ingmar Heller on double bass. On drums, Björn Lücker embeds the music in his very own sound cosmos of impulsive and two-dimensional textures. Lukas Klapp's compositions are precisely tailored to the line-up, in which musicians from the NDR BigBand and the independent Hamburg jazz scene meet. Shaped by Klapp's wide musical range, the quartet tries to play for new worlds in the spectrum of swinging and complex rhythms, free forms to the simple beauty of catchy songs and to let themselves be carried by the ideas of their fellow musicians.
