One of the world's best bassists, Manou Gallo, is coming to the Theater Düren. From the small town of Divo in Côte d'Ivoire, the energetic bassist, drummer, and singer has made her way to the world's major stages. None other than bass legend Bootsy Collins paved the way for Manou Gallo into the “Top 10 Of World Best Bass Players.” Other greats such as Wyclef Jean, Manu Dibango, Mamady Keita, Marcus Miller, and Lucas van Meerwijk have also shared the stage with her. Gallo is pure power on the bass and blends jazz, funk, groove, and Afrobeat. Anyone who has experienced her immediately recognizes her uniqueness – in her hands, the bass can sometimes become a percussion element, driving the groove to fascinating heights. It is no coincidence that Bootsy Collins calls her the “African Queen of Bass.” Proud of her African roots, she possesses the musical freedom to play anything. And this freedom is reflected on stage: an explosive mix of funk, jazz, and captivating Afro rhythms. With her skill on the electric bass and her music, Manou Gallo impressively proves that she is one of the most interesting musical talents.
