The Brooklyn-based guitarist, composer Mary Halvorson, one of the most sought-after guitarists, not only in New York City, is currently on the lips of all jazz critics and jazz fans, and her recording output is now worthy of a Guinness Book. In the summer, her new album "About Ghosts" will be released, which she will present in Nica Jazz Club. "Nobody makes music like her" - like many other media, the US magazine JazzTimes made no secret of this when it reviewed Halvorson's record "Cloudward". With her double album "Amaryllis & Belladonna" she finally established herself among the most creative jazz musicians of the present day. In numerous year-end lists, the album ranked number one. "Finding your own voice is the most important thing. Perhaps more than any other guitarist at the moment, in jazz and beyond, she has succeeded in this insidiously simple task," Pitchfork aptly sums up Mary Halvorson's current status. American jazz, chamber music, improvisation and progressive pop influences are brilliantly combined by the spirited and highly flexible Amaryillis sextet, which also includes trumpeter Adam O'Farrill and vibraphonist Patricia Brennan.
