Nils Petter Molvær is one of the most prominent representatives among the electro-acoustic jazz hybrids that have grown into their own genre since the 1990s. Within this field of 'Future Jazz' or 'Nu Jazz,' the Norwegian trumpeter and composer is both a pioneer and a veteran—having been one of the first jazz musicians to incorporate the emerging digital and electronic trends around the year 2000 into his work. With his distinctive sound, which blends melancholic trumpet tones with dynamic electronic soundscapes, Molvær has become world-famous and a part of the Scandinavian jazz phenomenon. For him, the door always remains open to take a look into jazz’s past. In the fall of 2027, he will present his new album. Through his fearlessness in exploring new sounds and emotions, Molvær will once again show that jazz not only has a future, but one that is both radiant and exciting.
