A world star at the Nica Jazz Club. Like few musicians only, the Cuban pianist Omar Sosa, who lives in Barcelona, combines a wide variety of musical cultures. No wonder that he works with various groups at the same time, such as in a trio with Trilok Gurtu and Paolo Fresu. With his quarteto AfroCubano, he returns to his musical roots. Based on classical Cuban musical styles such as Danzon, Cha-Cha-Cha and Bolero, he merges the tradition of African music into a universe of his own. A "back to the roots", so to speak, because a large part of Cuban music is based on African rhythms. The result is an independent, modern interpretation of the traditions of Cuban and African music.
