Omar Sosa Quarteto AfroCubano"Sosa's music combines Africa, jazz, Latin America and hip hop at the same time. He is one of the few whose pianistic skills do not need to shy away from comparison with Chick Corea or Chucho Valdés." New York Times

A world star at the Nica Jazz Club. Like few musicians only, the Cuban pianist Omar Sosa, who lives in Barcelona, combines a wide variety of musical cultures. No wonder that he works with various groups at the same time, such as in a trio with Trilok Gurtu and Paolo Fresu. With his quarteto AfroCubano, he returns to his musical roots. Based on classical Cuban musical styles such as Danzon, Cha-Cha-Cha and Bolero, he merges the tradition of African music into a universe of his own. A "back to the roots", so to speak, because a large part of Cuban music is based on African rhythms. The result is an independent, modern interpretation of the traditions of Cuban and African music.
