His latest album Blue Maqam is a unique journey through classical, flamenco, jazz and world music. You can hear Renaud in absolute harmony with his instrument, which exploits all the tonal possibilities of his five-string bass. He takes us on a jazz journey without geographical or stylistic boundaries. The ECHO award winner and composer delivers an album that takes you far away and invites you to dream. He simply added an extra string to his double bass, which usually has four strings. He developed a unique technique and musical language that, when he joined the ensemble of trumpeter Roger Guérin, played in the Orchestre de Contrebasses and the Orchestre National de Jazz under the direction of Claude Barthélémy, led him to new sounds in jazz.
