When The Bad Plus' first album was released in 2001, two covers of Abba and Nirvana on it caused an outcry in the jazz world. As a result, the band suddenly became the center of attention, where they are still today. But not only because of their song selection - especially because of their fantastic sound quality. Playing in the original trio with Ethan Iverson on piano until 2017, they are now on tour with a spectacular new line-up: In the 21st year of their existence, founding members Reid Anderson (bass) and Dave King (drums) are approaching a new, piano-less incarnation of the band with Ben Monder (guitar) and Chris Speed (tenor saxophone) - and thus triggering a new wave of enthusiasm and anticipation, that give new impetus to their sound and inspiration. The Bad Plus are always busy building bridges between genres and techniques while exploring the endless possibilities of extraordinary, perfect synchronization. What a great band, and what luck that they are guests at the Nica Jazz Club!
