Good jazz, like a suspenseful movie, can be provided with unpredictable twists and turns, in which many genres go hand in hand: action, crime, comedy, romance, thriller, sometimes even horror. With The Cat's Table, the mental cinema gets going and stands as cinematographic jazz over the music of the quartet around saxophonist Tom Reinbrecht, named after a novel by the Canadian Booker Prize winner Michael Ondaatje. The Cats, who take a seat at this illustrious table, are bandleader Reinbrecht, the long-time rhythm section of the legendary band of Klaus Doldinger's Passport, as well as the incredible keyboard virtuoso Jan Eschke. With this project, the visionary Reinbrecht musically transcends genre boundaries, combines the wild and untamed, rock'n'roll in jazz, but also jazz in rock'n'roll. Cat's Table is sensual mental cinema that is funky and soulful, grooves mightily, melodically seductive and is sometimes brightly colored in the overall picture. The Cat's Table plays music that is so captivating that we forget to reach into the popcorn bucket.
