To the point and perfectly coordinated. That pretty much fits Tilar's style of play: they play "tight". The Cologne funk band with Hamburg frontwoman Clara Lucas has already been able to open concerts by jazz greats such as Bill Evans and Nils Landgren with their sweaty sparks and convinced juror Klaus Doldinger at the Sparda Jazz Award in 2020. Tilar's musical influences are well-known musicians such as Cory Wong or Michael Jackson, says Clara Lucas. Feel-good vocal lines, a horn section in power play mode and a grooving rhythm work – when Tilar play, even the hip-stiff cornermen begin to twitch their limbs.
