The two renowned British jazz stars Jason Rebello and Tim Garland are back in Hamburg on their current tour, after their concert in 2023, which was acclaimed by audiences and critics alike. Longtime Sting pianist Jason Rebello and Chick Corea's saxophonist Tim Garland celebrate their personal and musical friendship with the release of their latest duo album "Life To Life" (Whirlwind Recordings). The album documents the culmination of a respectful partnership between two of Britain's most revered jazz musicians, which has now lasted for three decades. Both are highly decorated musicians (various national and international awards, including the Grammy Award) who have worked in their careers with luminaries such as Sting, Phil Collins, Chick Corea, Wayne Shorter, Jeff Beck and many more.
The long-time friends felt that it was time to record a duo format at this point in their careers: "I just feel like we have to make music together, it's a natural result of two people who have known each other for a long time. It's also a learning experience," says Rebello. "For me, it's Tim's compositions, creative skills and ideas that I've really learned from." Garland agrees: "The thing about learning from each other – it's pretty crucial. If they're playing in a duet, you need that solid grounding. Every single thing you do, every part of the piano, every part of the horn is so obvious. This grounding helps my cerebral side connect with the now of music, and that's why it's so good for me to work with Jason."
The two musicians will once again demonstrate their extraordinary skills in congenial interplay at the Nica Jazz Club. An experience of absolute world-class music.
