There are many beautiful voices in jazz, but Viktoria Tolstoy is unique - she is the great melodramatist of jazz. Pat Metheny said to her after a performance: "When you sing, the sun rises." A bipolar musician who can make happiness fragile and threaten like no other, who can make the bitter sound magical and beautiful. In a very reduced way, she is on stage with the exceptional pianist Jacob Karlzon. An intimate duo, entirely focused on the long-standing musical partnership between Tolstoy and Karlzon. Karlzon has been Tolstoy's companion for over 20 years. Karlzon's playing also lives from the nuances, the transitions, the ambiguity – whether he sits at the grand piano, the Fender Rhodes, the synthesizer or the celesta glockenspiel and is inspired by classics like Grieg or hard rockers like KoRn. In addition to numerous international tours by both artists in their own, larger line-ups, they present their songs as a duo on this evening – intimate, intense and full of magic.
