They are phenomenal players of their respective instruments: Wolfgang Muthspiel and Lionel Loueke on guitar and Linda May Han Oh on bass. In their new program Confluence, they are taking a surprising and new path. Confluence - confluence - is what Muthspiel calls the new trialogue of this all-star band, in which everything flows musically into each other. Their album of the same name, which they present here at Nica, will be released in December 2026.
The trio is led by the Austrian guitar master Wolfgang Muthspiel. In the 1990s, he moved to New York, where he quickly established himself as one of the most sensational guitarists. Today he lives in Vienna, but continues to work regularly with important artists from all over the world. His last four albums have been released on the renowned label ECM Records. His partners in this trio are in no way inferior to him: guitarist and singer Lionel Loueke, born in Benin, played with legends such as Herbie Hancock and Chick Corea and worked with the greatest musicians of his generation, including Esperanza Spalding and Robert Glasper. Linda May Han Oh is internationally sought after as a bassist and is known for her performances in the Pat Metheny Group as well as with jazz greats such as Mark Turner, Dave Douglas and Joe Lovano. A real musical delight!
