Yaron Herman wanted to become a professional basketball player. An injury as a teenager prevented that. In retrospect, this was fortunate for the music world, because instead the Israeli Frenchman by choice has become a brilliant jazz pianist – and that in just a few years. Yaron Herman's last, very atmospheric solo album was created completely spontaneously in the studio. At the Nica Jazz Club he presents the repertoire of his new quartet record. The pieces are more formally defined, but more gripping than anything he has done before, Herman finds. Saxophonist Maria Grand, who is always interested in musical surprises, will be there. This corresponds to Yaron Herman's credo: "You go to a concert only to come out a little changed at the end!"
"Rock heroes and jazz greats – he combines compositional influences from Radiohead to Keith Jarrett. Hardly anyone else is able to incorporate the entire jazz tradition into his solos in such a concentrated way and in rapid alternation. Highest musicality and a radically new gesture: Yaron Herman is definitely someone to be reckoned with in the next few years." (Süddeutsche Zeitung)
